Marble chest with lid, used for the burial of two infant boys, sits atop a pedestal, radiating grandeur. At each angle of its front face, a majestic candelabrum stands tall, supported by dolphins and adorned with a winged Sphinx at its center. Pomegranate flowers dangle from either side of an inscribed tablet, set within a moulded frame that adds to the overall sense of elegance. On one side, a vibrant wreath of fruit is bound together with sashes, while two birds peck eagerly at a lizard, adding a touch of whimsy to the scene. Two more birds, equally entranced, peck at the wreath itself. On the opposite side, another identical wreath beckons the eye, creating a sense of symmetry and balance that enhances the overall impact of the piece.
