Bunk Couch Frame (parametric)

Bunk Couch Frame (parametric)

Parametric design for a bunk couch, minus the integrated ladder – that's a problem to be solved later. Once you get the hang of it, getting up and down is not bad at all. This design stands fairly stable even when standing alone, making it less intrusive on the lower couch. For those with tall ceilings, this setup offers an extra few seats without taking up any room. The shelf was designed to be a light box – you can cut random patterns into the bottom sheet of plywood and fill it with LEDs. Build at your own risk! I won't take responsibility for abuse or failures of this design. This project was cut at LVL1 hackerspace, but credit goes to i3Detroit who pioneered bunk couches years before The Lego Movie. Print Settings: Notes: DXF files are in inches. Both dxf files should fit on a single sheet of plywood – cut two of each, but only the star pattern once. I used 3/4" plywood for sides and gussets and 1/2" for flats. For assembly, highly recommend using wood glue and screws on everything – it's a really strong combo. The only thing not glued is the bottom shelf to allow maintenance on LEDs.
