Our Generation and Designa Friend Doll Bunk Bed - A DIY Project for Crafty Parents As my daughter was saving up to buy a bunk bed for her beloved dolls, I saw an opportunity to create something unique and cost-effective. After researching the market, I discovered that a similar bunk bed could be purchased for around £50. However, I decided to take on the challenge of designing and building one myself. This DIY project requires approximately 50 hours of printing time and some glue to assemble the parts. To ensure a smooth build process, I've included a test bed slat file, which is essential to try out before starting the main project. This will help you determine if your printer and settings can handle the joints required for this design. It's crucial to note that supports are necessary for this project, but they should only touch the base. Make sure to rotate the STL files as indicated in the screenshots (SS1.png, SS2, and SS3) to ensure accurate printing. The following items need to be printed: * Test Bed Slat (highly recommended) * 8 Bed Slats * Head Board 1-4 * Tail Board 1-4 * Ladder 1-3 Once the parts are printed, remove the tiny supports from the triangle male joints. These should snap off easily. I used Gorilla Epoxy Resin Glue to assemble the bed, and it worked beautifully. Update: After completing the project, I'm thrilled to report that the bunk bed fits my daughter's dolls perfectly! My mum even created some custom mattresses, pillows, and duvets to complete the look. The Gorilla Epoxy glue held up well, and the bed can hold at least 2.5KG of weight.
