I've been using a shock cord clip to strap my bike securely onto the bike rack of our family car for years now. It's come in handy not just for biking trips but also when we're heading out to the slopes - apparently, they're super useful for securing gear on ski lifts and chairlifts too! I can see how it would be a lifesaver in a lot of other situations as well.
