Bump guard for Decora wall switches
thingiverse
Outside my house, motion sensor security lights are equipped with a manual override switch that's located inside. Unfortunately, this switch often gets bumped, causing me to arrive home to a dark house. The bump guard I added is cleverly designed, as its screw holes align perfectly with those on the wall plate. This means the plate doesn't need to be removed for installation. The guard itself is narrow enough that it can fit alongside other switches on a multi-gang wall plate without causing any interference. Even with the guard in place, I can easily access and operate the switch through the holes if needed. The bump guard is secured with just two screws, making it easy to remove when necessary – a feature that's particularly useful for renters like myself. As you might notice from my photos, my walls aren't exactly spotless at the moment! Printer Settings * Printer Brand: LulzBot * Printer Model: AO-101 * Rafts: None * Supports: None * Infill: 20% * Notes: I printed this with white ABS to match the wall plates in my house, but feel free to use whatever material suits your needs. Post-Printing Finishing Touches I printed this part with the outside face facing up on the bed. This allowed me to take advantage of the smooth surface that's most visible once it's installed. By doing so, I was able to avoid using support material altogether.
