Declared a site of cultural interest by the Extremadura Junta. The Plaza de Toros in Caceres first opened on August 6th, 1846, with bulls provided by Gaspar Muñoz and Veragua. Bulls were expertly impaled by Jose Redondo Chiclanero and Lavi. This arena measures 45 meters in diameter and has seating for 8,000 people. It features three levels of seats. The original walls remain intact along with the stonework characteristic of a mole structure and unique narrow stands that slope steeply upward. The idea of building this bullring first arose in the spring of 1844 when investors formed a company that was divided into shares of 500 pesetas, appointing engineer Padilla Secundino as the technical director. Construction was completed in July 1846 at a total cost of 237,000 pesetas. The bullring covers an area measuring 4073 meters square.
