Bullpup slide grip prototype
thingiverse
I recently modified a Mossberg 500A shotgun by converting it into a bullpup configuration using an aftermarket stock kit from the manufacturer's parts supplier. The original slide grip had a texture and ergonomics that fell short of expectations, prompting me to design an adapter that would allow the Houge rubberized overmold forend grip to be installed directly onto the slide rail system. I envisioned designing end-caps that would attach securely to the core using bolts that thread into specially created inserts in the stock assembly. Although I still need to finalize these components, the overall concept was ultimately replaced by an innovative design featuring aggressively textured polymer construction: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:789051. This design approach may also prove useful for attaching a Houge grip to more generic rail systems, like a picatinny rail, and might require adapting the design for compatibility with different slide profiles (note: the current iteration includes recessed bolt holes designed exclusively for mounting onto the specific bullpup stock kit slide). If any enthusiasts would like to modify this concept into a generic mountable solution, please comment below and I will happily share the CAD file for your review.
