This filament guide constrains the filament between two sliding guide pieces: one over the hobbed gear and one under the ball bearing. The bearing that comes with the Bulldog Extruder is replaced by a smaller bearing: 696-RS 6mm x 15mm x 5mm Ball Bearing Assembly Steps: 1 - Insert the smaller guide piece (flat side up) into the bearing cartridge (red in pictures) 2 - Place the bearing cartridge over the extruder's hobbed gear. 3 - Use a long hex driver to push the hobbed gear up against the filament guide. Tighten the hobbed gear. 4 - Place the ball bearing into the larger guide piece and insert into the bearing cartridge. 5 - Tighten the bearing in place. Do not over-tighten. The Bulldog Extruder can be configured as a direct drive extruder with the addition of a heat sink and a fan. This combination dissipates heat as well or better than the Titan Aero for 1/5 the price. Here are the steps: 1 - Counter-sink the two existing screw holes in the cover plate. 2 - Drill additional holes in the cover plate for attaching heat sink and fan. 3 - Attach extruder body onto motor with only two screws on the filament entry side. 4 - Attach the cover plate onto the extruder body with flat head screws. 5 - Attach heat sink and fan onto the extruder body with two long screws on the filament exit side. 6 - For better thermal conductivity, apply some thermal grease between the extruder body, the cover plate, and the heat sink. Printing Tips: - Mirror the design in your slicer for a left-handed extruder. - Use infill of at least 50% - Use walls of at least 3 lines. - Level the print bed properly to prevent first layer from getting squished. - Make sure all other parameters are also calibrated.
