An incandescent light bulb is an illuminating device that generates light through a heated wire filament enclosed in a glass or fused quartz housing. The bulb either contains inert gas or is vacuum-sealed to safeguard the filament from oxidation. In halogen lamps, the lifespan of the filament is prolonged due to a chemical process that redeposits metal vapor back onto the wire.
