Building Blocks

In mainstream culture, women are frequently reduced to mere objects designed for male satisfaction. The female form is often dismembered and detached from its owner's personhood, thereby transforming her into a prized physical specimen of male sexual predilection. This pervasive objectification, perpetuated in the media since childhood, has become an unconscious reality, shrouded from conscious recognition. “Building Blocks” purports to be an innocuous children's toy, however upon closer inspection, each block morphs into a specific female body part. Women’s bodies are fractured and dissected across various platforms, much like this toy where the segments barely fit together seamlessly, implying that women lose their essence and agency. A child engaging with construction toys exercises fundamental learning skills at an early age. When they manipulate “Building Blocks,” children unknowingly receive lessons in perceiving a woman as an inanimate object designed for their pleasure – much like the skewed representations prevalent in media outlets.
