Builder BigBuilder (Original) enhanced fan duct replacement
thingiverse
This story revolves around a top-of-the-line 3000€ printer located at https://www.3dhubs.com/3d-printers/big-builder-dual-feed-extruder. Its exceptional framing, sturdy rods, advanced extruders, substantial volume, high precision, and excellent mixing solutions make it stand out. However, there's a catch - an optional hot bed without a sensor is included, which is somewhat lacking. Moreover, the printer only has one duct on one side of its head, and there are no upgrade options available despite being released years ago. This oversight is even more puzzling considering the printer's massive size. Fortunately, I managed to purchase this impressive machine second-hand at half the original price. If not for that, I would be extremely dissatisfied with my purchase. Notably, it fails to pass the Marvin test, which is quite surprising. Here's a functional version of a project designed to replace the original duct while maintaining the same fan and position. The new design proved successful during printing tests, including the creation of the hook. You can find the original file on http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:215703. Feel free to improve this design as there's still room for optimization. The source file is included for your convenience. Update: After two days of testing, I've discovered that PLA may not be the best choice due to its tendency to bend and warp when printed above 200°C, especially if the fan isn't always on. ABS appears to be a better option, although this might seem obvious. If you decide to print and test this design, please leave your comments below.
