Build plate lock

Build plate lock

You can craft a detachable build plate without any clamps sitting on top of the plate. This setup makes it simpler to remove parts that won't easily lift off the build surface when the build plate is flexible. If you're working with dual extruder printers, consider making a wider build plate due to the offset between the extruders - just check out some pictures. The best results are usually achieved with PLA printing and a non-heated build plate because of heat-related clamping issues. You might also want to try printing with ABS if possible, although keep in mind I'm working on a more heat-resistant version for later. You'll find the build instructions are quite straightforward: just lay it flat without any support. To assemble the removable build plate, you'll need the following parts: A piece of polycarbonate (approximately 250mm x 150mm x 3mm is recommended for a Wanhao) A BuildTak setup for optimal results Four M4x40 countersunk screws Eight M4 nuts Four M4 washers with outer diameters under 9mm Four springs with an inner diameter greater than 4mm
