Merry X-Mas 2022 and Happy New Year 2023!!! Note: This is fan-art, completely built from scratch by myself, polygon by polygon. This is something I've wanted to do a long, LONG time (but not in a galaxy far, far away). Finally made it, and it is my version of the most iconic Science-Fiction APC there is. It is modeled and designed completely by myself from ground up. I've mainly designed it for tabletop gaming purposes and especially to match the scale in Gale Force 9's "Aliens: Another Glorious Day in the Corps" game. The vehicle size is approx. 7.5 x 20cm fully assembled (approx 3x8 squares on the inch grid maps). And surely it will make a great shelf decoration as well. The vehicle features rotating tires (click-in attachment), magnetized rotating turrets, magnetized main door that you can slide open, removable magnetized roof and fully furnitured interior and LED lighting; Head/side-lights, Spotlight on the roof and interior light (I've used a red LED in mine). I have split and arranged everything for super-easy printing. The body is split in four pieces to minimize the need for supports (some are needed though) and many accessories and most interiors can be printed supportless. This is also to ensure maximum print quality. I have provided my Prusaslicer scene files, set up for my Prusa Mini+, but you should be able to set your own printer easily from those. PS. I have included a couple of fun xenomorphs of mine, inspired by the movie. One of them works as a great stopper from rolling from the shelf. You can also check out my printable xeno set: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5702123 Updates: - 20.12.2022: Added hollowed out wheel and cannon. Mainly for resin printers. Hopefully works fine. - 21.12.2022: Made the xenos a bit smaller. - 22.12.2022: I just updated the prusaslicer files. Small changes and updates to match the new models I have improved tiny bit here and there. Also provided a picture of my prusaslicer files, so you can see what each contains. What you will need (I bought my magnets and LED's from eBay): - Super Glue (CA) for attaching the parts together. - Some transparent filament for the LED lenses. - 32pcs 3x3mm cylinder magnets for most magnetized parts. - Three 3x1.5mm cylinder magnets for the door. - Three 3mm or 5mm LED's 3V. - Three CR2032 lithium batteries TIPS: - Duplicate and mirror the wheel, if you're not using my PrusaSlicer scene. This way you will get the correct tire pattern on both sides. - I've printed my parts mostly with 0.1mm layers, but in some details and cockpit section I've used 0.07mm layer height. Everything printed with my Prusa 0.4mm stock nozzle. - This APC should be printable with resin, but some parts can eat up quite lot of resin, as they are not originally designed for resin. But I have provided hollowed out tires and turret just in case, though. For those brave resin fans. - If you use my APC to play with the Aliens: AGDitC, I suggest to use the interior map from "Get Away From Her, You Bi***" expansion besides the game map to present the interior where you can move the minis when they enter APC. This way you can also keep the roof on and allows exact placement of minis inside the APC as intended. I've smoothed surfaces with these (you should be able to find the equivalents): - 400 and 600 grit sandpaper (if you sand straight the PLA, use water so it won't melt). - Wood Filler paste from Clas Ohlsson to fill the seams and smoothen rough surfaces, sanded after. - Plastic Padding "Sprut-Spackel" sprayed overall, sanded after. (Automotive filler spray.) - Finally primed with white primer (xenos with black). And finally... Happy printing, building and painting!
