The Bugatti Chiron is a supercar engineered with a central engine by the Volkswagen Group, marking it as the successor to the iconic Bugatti Veyron. The Chiron zooms from 0-100 km/h in a mere 2.4 seconds, while it can reach 200 km/h in an astonishing 6.4 seconds and 300 km/h in just 13.5 seconds according to the manufacturer's claim. Operating at its top speed, the Bugatti Chiron reaches a mind-blowing 380 km/h in normal mode; however, a second key unlocks the "maximum speed" mode which catapults it to an incredible 420 km/h. It is worth noting that this mode is automatically locked once the steering wheel turns even a quarter of a turn. Presenters showcased the Chiron's impressive capabilities by stating that clients requesting the removal of the limiter could easily achieve speeds near 500 km/h. Notably, even Bugatti deemed it necessary to avoid removing the 420 km/h limiter due to inadequate progress in tire technology. In 2017, Michelin developed tires capable of propelling a two-ton vehicle at a remarkable 458 km/h. The Chiron later demonstrated its true prowess by achieving speeds over 490 km/h in August 2019, cementing its title as the world's fastest car. During full-speed operations, the Bugatti Chiron would exhaust its 100-liter fuel tank in just 8 minutes, indicating an outrageous consumption of 190 liters per 100 kilometers and an astonishing emission of 4.5 kilograms of CO2 per kilometer. Bugatti has announced plans to produce 500 units of this supercar; 170 of which have already been ordered at the hefty price tag of ⬠2.4 million (approximately £ 1.9 million or $ 2.90 million).
