Someone on the 3D printing Facebook group asked if they could reverse engineer one of those "As seen on TV" bug grabbers. They did it. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! PARTS REQUIRED These are the parts for a bug catcher you can build. 1/8in schedule 40 PVC pipe is what you need first, A metal clothes hanger and an old plastic coffee can lid will do just fine. You'll also require an old brush with long bristles or some old 1.75mm filament pieces. And finally, a thick rubber band to hold everything in place. INSTRUCTIONS Print all three parts: "Plunger", "Inside handle" and "outside handle". Cut the bristles off the brush (or use old 1.75mm filament) and set them aside for now. Trace out the plunger onto the plastic coffee can lid with a marker or pen. Cut out the circle from the plastic coffee can lid carefully. Poke three holes in a line, right down the middle of the lid. Poke smaller holes around the outside of the center hole. Push brush bristles through the smaller outside holes you made. Straighten out the metal clothes hanger and bend it into shape. Attach "plunger" and outside handle end to opposite ends of pipe. Put a bend in the end of clothes hanger and attach to the "inside handle end". Run clothes hanger attached to "inside handle end" through "outside handle end", down the pipe. Run rubber band through larger holes one and three. Push clothes hanger through center hole of coffee can lid and crimp end with pliers. Attach rubber band to hooks on inside of plunger. ADJUSTMENT Adjust tension pulling rubber band upwards, it should pull center bristles inward now. Downwards pressure on handle will cause rubber band to loosen and release bristles. ACT NOW!
