Bug-A-Salt Laser sight from Nerf
thingiverse
Having become the recent owner of a Bug-A-Salt I thought it would be fun to rip apart a Nerf Volt gun and repurpose the "Laser" sight onto the Bug-A-Salt and here is that creation. It is not very pretty but works well just by slipping it onto the barrel assembly. The hardest part was getting the Nerf gun apart as they are really well made and unfortuntely clipped as opposed to screwed together but after persisting with a sharp knife was able to gain access and take out the laser assembly (not actually a laser, just red LED that is focused thru a lens. Enough of the clips of the Nerf remained to enable me to put it back together as a working Nerf gun after the operation. Instead of printing a battery compartment I just used the one from the Nerf and trimmed the excess plastic off it so that it sits nicely in the enclosure. Anyways - have fun :-) The box part was printed with supports as it has some structure to position the circuit board. Also the barrel end has a slanted face on it to match the tilt of the lens to achieve correct sighting at 3' so that it printed nice and flat on the bed ;-)
