Buffalo Head Hat
thingiverse
This is an outlandish chapeau that I fashioned for a companion who had requested it. It measures up to the size of a buffalo cranium, specifically one acquired from a newborn buffalo. The friend plans on wrapping it with a cloak made of the original buffalo's hide and coat, carefully extracted by him. When creating the framework, my goal was to keep it so lightweight that anyone can easily wear it on their head without fear of it tipping over. Strategically designed slots were also incorporated to securely fit a standard hard hat harness inside it. The actual framework itself was fabricated from ABS using a MakerBot Replicator Z18 printer at 0.20 mm resolution and a modest 10% infill level, producing no rafts or supports throughout the process. This enabled the structure to achieve its ultimate weight of only 1400 grams, perfectly complemented by the added bulk of the harness. Printer Settings were tailored specifically for this task. Notes indicate that my Replicator Z18 is now fully upgraded and able to run effectively, due in large part to a myriad of enhancements and adjustments implemented throughout. Once the entire printing operation had finished up, I mixed the printed slices together into an acetone mixture, applying it evenly all across the completed part to ensure flawless print precision. Additionally, minor blemishes or uneven surfaces could be easily remedied by brushing on additional ABS- acetone blend.
