Buddha Shakyamuni

Buddha Shakyamuni

myminifactory

This Buddha boasts an intricately designed halo adorned with flowers and an inner circle of delicate lotus petals. Faint remnants of paint reveal that the figure was once resplendent in vibrant colors (unfortunately not visible in this scan). The style of ornamentation and drapery suggests that the figure likely originated from the cave temple complex at Xiangtangshan in Northern China. These distinctive features, combined with the exquisitely carved, rounded face, demonstrate a masterful Chinese interpretation of the Indian Gupta dynasty style.
