Buddha shielded by a naga in southern Angkor Thom, Cambodia, around the mid-12th century, carved from sandstone. On display at the Musée du Cinquantenaire in Brussels, Belgium. Captured using ReCap Pro from AutoDesk. The Buddha sits in deep contemplation atop Mucilinda, a serpent that morphs into a throne and safeguards him against torrential rains and devastating floods that batter him during his meditation after enlightenment. Here, he embodies both spiritual humility as a monk and regal authority as a king. His simple attire is offset by an intricately decorated crown.
