Buddha - minimal supports
thingiverse
Artec 3D generously provided the original 3D scan of this iconic cultural artifact under a CC-Attribution-Share alike license, allowing it to be freely used and shared. I extracted the data from the scan, performed minor cleanup and surface repair to prepare it for 3D printing, and successfully generated a watertight STL file. My goal was to test various software tools on a complex model like this one. To ensure stability, I linked the arms with supporting structures below them, while also connecting the musical instrument to the thigh via polygons. Additionally, I carefully adjusted the arm angles to minimize the need for external support.
