Buckyballs are favorite shapes for geodesic domes worldwide. All the edges have equal length and only one type of vertex exists. Each vertex connects two hexagons with one pentagon. A real dome will be more complex because you want more floor area than one face. Joining or extending balls is even harder because most faces are at odd angles. One way to add an extension is here: join a second ball at the vertex of a previous sphere. There are simpler methods but this preserves the faceted look of the dome. The end of the tube part can be repeated as desired, making the structure expand infinitely. Instead of a single dome, many could be added as needed, creating unique structures such as greenhouses or shade houses.
