buckle for backpack
thingiverse
I've got a budget-friendly trekking backpack from the Czech brand "Husky" that has some pretty fragile buckles. Three of them have already been crushed, so I decided to design replacement buckles. Actually, it would make more sense to print out better ones with female counterparts as well, since I already know the original design isn't very durable. However, I like to experiment and I have access to a 3D scanner, so here's my 3D-scanned replacement buckle. You can also see from my photos that I printed it in an upright position, which I don't recommend. The forces in X/Y make snapping along the layers more likely... but this is just an experiment. I was able to print this filament in a way that breaks across the layers, so orientation shouldn't matter. In this case, one advantage of printing it upright is easy support removal. I've also uploaded a low-poly version if your slicer struggles with the high polygon count. Edit: There are some bigger buckles on the backpack too. I should have realized that before scanning (for better details because of the bigger object)... However, I now uploaded the resized buckles as well ("big" suffix). I haven't tested them yet though. Also, there's a new screenshot for a slicing suggestion if you'd like to test Z-strength.
