Buck Converter case (LM2596 DC to DC 2020 Rail Ender 3)
thingiverse
I wanted to add a DC to DC converter to my Ender 3 to power a 12 volt fan. I tried another LM2596 Buck Converter case, but the dimensions were slightly different. So, I designed my own case. This case comes in two parts, and you will need two M3 bolts that are about 16 mm long. The Base: Choose either a plain base or the base that slides onto the 2020 rail. The plain base is called Base.stl, while the base with the rail is called Base w Rail.stl. The Top: Choose either the top with one larger hole at each end, which is called Top 2hole.stl, or the top with two smaller holes at each end, which is called Top 4hole.stl. The top fits on only one way because the adjustment pot fits in the access cutout. The voltage IN and OUT are marked, along with the polarity. Note: Not all LM2596 boards have the same dimensions. I only tested with one style. I included photos from Amazon.ca, which I bought. I cannot guarantee that your LM2596 will be the same dimensions. Also, make sure to rotate the models so that the grill is down and no supports are needed.
