Reinvention of Cable Chain Design. 8x8 mm cable pathway. To accommodate larger needs, merely scale Z-axis, as I've successfully done from 4mm to 25mm tall configurations. Print Settings: Printer: HICTOP i3 Rafts: Irrelevant Supports: Unnecessary Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 100% Post-Printing Instructions: 1) Remove excess material. 2) Assemble chain and work side by side to break-in the structure. 3) Disassemble and re-assemble around wires for optimal fit. 4) Enjoy your newly printed cable chain! Blank bases can be easily drilled to suit specific applications. Design Process: My printer is not ideal, and I've struggled to print standard cable chains successfully. The idea struck me almost fully formed. I designed this in OnShape: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/86ac6b97bc2ca2e690f39396/w/54ec3d5bcbecc86cc6652080/e/e35e1a39e1267294af7185f7 Custom Section: Printed in ABS with 0.6 mm layer thickness, 2 shells, and 100% infill for added strength. I have a chain of 18 links that measures 41 cm long. Holding one end, the other droops approximately 20-25 mm. Unfortunately, while printing the end connectors, I encountered an issue with smoke and glowing wires. All boards are currently non-functional. Hopefully, my steppers remain intact; I'll know once replacement boards arrive. Feedback is encouraged. If you print this design, please post a "made" to share your experience.
