Bubble Canopy for FT Spitfire RC plane
thingiverse
This is a canopy I built specifically for my FliteTest FT_Spitfire RC Airplane, which can be found at https://www.flitetest.com/articles/ft-spitfire-build. You can see the finished product in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmXtP1M0wGs. This design should work with any plane of similar dimensions, but it was tailored to fit perfectly on my FT_Spitfire. I added holes for a BBQ skewer that holds the powerpod in place, which can be easily removed if needed. I also added a tab on the back top of the cockpit that fits into a hole cut into the former. In retrospect, I'm not sure why I designed the cockpit to be removable, but it does make accessing lights under it a bit easier. As you can see from the print, there is an airgap between the inner and outer walls that's a bit uneven. However, this didn't affect the functionality of the canopy, so I was satisfied with the result. The finished canopy measures about 112mm long and was designed to fit snugly on a fuselage that's approximately 63mm wide, or about 2.5 inches.
