BTT Octopus Stepper Fan Shroud

BTT Octopus Stepper Fan Shroud

I just build my new RatRig V-Core printer and wanted to bump up the speed, doing so required active cooling on the stepper drivers. I didn’t want to mount a large fan on the back and thought that a duct flowing air directly over the heat sinks would be an effective way to cool them. This shroud uses a 5015-blower style fan to move air directly over the steppers and seems to do quite a good job. I have the steppers set at 1.6 amps and although you cant read the actual chip temperatures of the 2209 you can read the 3 temperature warning bits of the driver and none of them have triggered while running at this power. So far my longest print was 16 hours with all 5 motion motors at 1.6A and the extruder at 0.6A. The fan is just your average 5015 blower from amazon(see link below). if you’re looking for a light weight easy cooling solution for up to 8 stepper drivers on a BTT octoputs board then give this a try. you only need 1 screw to secure the fan to the shroud and then the shroud is tight enough that it holds itself on top of the 2209 stepper drivers. the shroud is fits snugly on on any standard stepper driver so this should work with any octopus model but i have only tested this on the Octopus V1.1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08R9G2VDR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
