BSA magazine catch extension
thingiverse
I have fitted a barrel shroud (by Huub) to my little BSA Ultra PCP air rife, which makes it *much* quieter in use. This, however, makes the magazine catch a little awkward to use as the shroud butts right up against it and the breech block and makes it hard to get hold of. I have made a little extension to go on to the catch to make it much easier to use, particularly if wearing gloves. It's basically a block with some serrations for grip. Very simple, and worked well for my first design from scratch! Simply glue the block on top of the existing mag catch with a suitable adhesive (some sort of epoxy is ideal) and you're good to go. I thought about making a complete replacement, but removing the catch requires complete disassembly of the entire breech block which is more trouble than I was willing to go to. This works just fine. This will work on any of the rifles that use the standard BSA PCP action, such as the Ultra, Scorpion, Goldstar, R-10, Buccaneer etc. I believe Gamo PCPs also use the same action so this will work for them too. See the photos for before and after, illustrating how much clearance the shroud gives around the catch with and without this addition. Printed on my Ender 3 v2.
