Brushless Whoop Frame 65mm
thingiverse
I'm excited to share my very first design on Thingiverse. As of yet, I haven't printed this model myself and put it through testing since I don't own a 3D printer. This frame is designed as an upgrade part for whoops like the Eachine UK65/US65, URUAV UR65, BetaFPV 65, and so on. The canopy in the picture is just a sample, and you can find it at Thing #3389105 (thanks to bro for this awesome model). I ran some FEM analyses on this frame, and they look pretty solid. With 50g thrust on each motor (different directions), the frame bends only about 0.5mm in total. The maximum stress peak in this frame is about 5N/mm² – almost nothing! The weight of the frame should be less than 4g with PLA. If you get in touch with me, I can also share some native CAD formats for this model. EDIT #1: 04/02/2019 I've tweaked the size of the frame from 65mm to 69mm and changed the cross-cut shape of the arms. Even though I know it'll make the print process more complicated, I shaped the whole frame hollow inside. This reduces the weight by about 10% and keeps the frame stiff. EDIT #2: 25/02/2019 I've added a 69mm whoop frame with extra lashes to hold the lipo in place with a rubber band. A user on Instagram mentioned that screwing the rubber band together with the FC is too complicated when you need to switch bands. I think this new design will be a bit better, but it'll still be a pain to change the rubber band.
