Brushed 90mm Micro FPV Race Drone (SPRacing Evo, 8520 motors)
thingiverse
I successfully designed something robust, sturdy and lightweight. So far it has withstood several intense crashes into concrete without sustaining any noticeable damage. This is my third design and I'm most satisfied with its performance. Flight characteristics are excellent with very responsive cornering and good recovery from dives. The camera tilt is set at 20 degrees, which I find ideal for these micros. If you're a new pilot this might be slightly high but I find the wide viewing angle of these cams makes the tilt less of an issue for beginners. Weight is exactly 40 grams, including a tiny receiver that I had to install in my transmitter. Newer flight controllers have built-in receivers that should significantly reduce the weight. Wheelbase is 90mm. I've also added a buzzer. I learned the hard way that leaving them off to save weight is a terrible idea if you plan on flying outdoors. I printed it using PLA, which is the only filament my cheap printer can handle. ABS might be a better option. If you try it, please let me know how it goes. Parts list: flight controller: SPRACING EVO Brushed Motors: 8520 Coreless Camera: Not sure, it's a standard micro cam vtx combo job. Any should fit no problem. Props: Ladybirds Buzzer: 5v Buzzer Misc: Foam tape for mounting the FC, rubber bands The build should be straightforward. Just use my photos as a reference. I highly recommend updating your flight controller to the latest version of Betaflight. Instructions are just a Google search away. PIDS for Betaflight: These are the ones I found for the QX90 Micro Quad that's also 90mm x frame. They seem to work very well. p_pitch = 80 i_pitch = 45 d_pitch = 20 p_roll = 80 i_roll = 45 d_roll = 20 p_yaw = 75 i_yaw = 45 Credit goes to NJ Tech for those settings. Updated for a bit more strength, I added about a gram of weight. EDIT I've uploaded a new design that should be an improvement. Not fully tested yet. I'll keep uploading as the design changes.
