Brownsea Brick Kiln 2016
sketchfab
A 2016 Update, This 19th Century brick kiln is crumbling away from the southern shore of Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour. The island was once used to produce Alum and Copperas from the 15th-16th Centuries and later became a thriving hub for pottery production. Evidence of this industrial past can be found scattered across the island, but coastal sites like this one are rapidly deteriorating due to erosion and storm damage. In 2007, the National Trust conducted an excavation and survey of the site, and now the CITiZAN team is collaborating with National Trust volunteers to document and monitor these sites before they disappear.
