Brown University College Hill 2018: MB Trench 09
sketchfab
Students from Brown University's ARCH1900: The Archaeology of College Hill excavate a 2x2m model of Trench 09 at Moses Brown School in Providence, RI. This model displays the southern foundation wall of A. Albert Sack's home, built by the German immigrant in 1884 using profits from several successful wool mills in the area. Demolished in 1939, the property became part of Moses Brown School grounds. Excavation at the site began in 2015 under the Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World's supervision. The model highlights a high concentration of anthropic material within the home's walls (mortar, brick, tile, etc.), contrasting with the sterile soil found outside the slate-built foundation.
