The Brown Trout (Salmo trutta) has conquered waters worldwide with its introduction to various environments that meet its needs. This European salmonid fish thrives in both pure freshwater habitats referred to as the Riverine Ecotype or Salmo trutta morpha fario and lacustrine populations known as the Lake Trout, S. trutta morpha lacustris. In contrast, Anadromous forms migrate into the ocean for a significant portion of their life cycle before returning to freshwater to spawn. Known as Sea Trout, these species fall under S. trutta morpha trutta classification. In the British Isles, sea trout are known by various regional names: sewin in Wales, finnock in Scotland, peal in the West Country, mort in North West England, and white trout in Ireland.
