The brown bear, scientifically known as Ursus arctos, is a large species inhabiting northern Eurasia and North America. Adult bears typically weigh between 100 to 600 kg (220 to 1,300 lb), with the Kodiak bear being its largest subspecies, rivaling the polar bear as the biggest member of the bear family and the largest land-based predator. Inspired by a renowned diorama at The Museum of Natural History in NYC, this intricate sculpture was created by Jason Bakutis. To achieve an impeccable finish, it will be treated with Minwax, and a picture will be posted later. The 3D printing process involved the use of Cherry Wood Filament - LAYWOO-D3 1.75mm Filament (PLA Compatible) from fused3d.com. It was printed at a .1mm resolution with whpthomas' Thing (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:39050), and the ReplicatorG Profile for 100 microns on the Makerbot Replicator2 was utilized.
