Broughty Castle stands proudly on the river Tay's banks in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, Scotland. Finished around 1495, this historic fortress has a rich history dating back to 1454 when George Douglas, 4th Earl of Angus, got permission to construct it. His son Archibald Douglas, 5th Earl of Angus, was forced into giving up the castle to the crown. At its core, the main tower house with four floors was built by Andrew, 2nd Lord Gray, who took possession of the castle in 1490 through a grant from the monarch.
