Brougham Carriage
myminifactory
A brougham was a stylish four-wheeled horse-drawn carriage built in the 19th century for luxury and speed. Lord Brougham commissioned London coachbuilders Robinson & Cook to craft this sleek vehicle in either 1838 or 1839, giving it his name in the process. The carriage featured an enclosed body with two doors, resembling the rear section of a larger coach, accommodating up to four passengers: two seated comfortably inside and an additional pair of fold-down seats in the front corners, while the driver sat atop a box seat at the front. A key difference between this carriage and a traditional coach was its glazed front window, allowing occupants to gaze forward with ease. Additionally, the brougham's forewheels were designed for sharp turns, making it an agile ride. A variation of this design, known as a brougham-landaulet, boasted a collapsible top section behind the rear doors, further enhancing its versatility and charm.
