Brotherhood of Nod Keyholder (Command and Conquer)
thingiverse
A clever device that attaches to your wall once built and holds your keys via two strong magnets placed at the bottom. Instructions: I initiated work in CorelDRAW X7, importing my reference image for the logo. I then carefully retraced both outlines, before bringing them into 3ds Max where they resulted in three distinct meshes: the scorpion tail, the outline itself, and the interior portion of the outline which required some refinement. With the meshes created, I individually extruded each component - increasing the height of the tail and outline to 2.5 inches, while reducing the inner part to 1.5 inches. Next, I precisely aligned the inner element with its matching counterpart and applied a boolean subtraction to remove unnecessary space. The result was an empty area which perfectly accommodated the scorpion's distinctive tail. Subsequently, I crafted two small cylinders using magnets (measuring 7-8 mm in diameter by 2 inches deep) for key attachment and superimposed them onto the design. With proportioning complete, it became apparent that resizing the mesh was necessary; however, doing so manually would prove to be tedious and unreliable. Therefore, I resorted to bringing my project into a printer preview environment where accurate measurements could be easily determined. Once scaled to the optimal size, I removed unnecessary cylinder parts using a boolean subtraction operation. A final polishing step involved capping these empty voids. Upon printing completion, it was only a matter of smoothing out minor irregularities and coating the exterior surface with an appropriate finish - applying black primer first followed by metallic silver outlines and vibrant red interior for maximum aesthetic appeal. If any users discover unique creative solutions using my provided mesh design please do share them; they will not be missed.
