Broom Handle Extension

The early 1800s witnessed the advent of the broom, initially used for cleaning small areas by sweeping dust away. However, with heightened hygiene standards, its function evolved to cover entire floors, necessitating the use of a dustpan to collect dust without spillage. Unfortunately, this task often requires an uncomfortable wrist bend, particularly problematic for those with arthritic hands or wrists and food workers dealing with extensive sweeping. This model aims to solve these issues while maintaining simplicity and reliability. The design is illustrated in the provided pictures, with additional details available in the accompanying drawings. Key components include one self-tapping bolt (2.5 inches long, 0.2 inches in diameter), one bolt (2.3 inches long, 0.2 inches in diameter) with a nut, and two bolts (1 inch long, 0.2 inches in diameter) without nuts. ABS plastic is recommended for durability and lightweight construction, to be fabricated using fused deposition modeling (FDM) technology. This innovative design was conceptualized by Mason Chudleigh.
