Broom Adapter / adaptateur de pas de vis balai
thingiverse
It is an adapter for square threaded broom whose measurements are in image. Alas, as we prepared to remove the trash cans from their location for monthly pickup, my eye was caught by a broom handle placed nearby. Since it no longer had an owner due to its unique square-threaded tip, I couldn't resist giving it a new life! An adapter... to fight obsolescence Let's face it, if you don't know of a nearby Fablab or possess a 3D printer, this type of broom handle may pose some problems once the manufacturer stops providing compatible heads... We were unable to attach anything to the end of the handle, forcing us to almost-new throw it away. However, I am quite fortunate as I know the Fablab of 3 Lapins! All that remains is to design a custom adapter to connect a standard head to this square-threaded broom handle. Thread... and 3D design Although this piece may seem beyond the reach of a beginner in 3D design, it's not the case! With the help of software like FreeCAD and clear explanations on creating simple threading, you can start this adventure in no time! To understand better, threading is nothing more than an imprint of any shape (triangular, square, ...) that needs to be turned around an axis. Then, by removing material, we will gradually gnaw away at our solid, which will retain the shape of our initial imprint. Thanks to this simple principle, we can design adapters for all types of threading and even create non-standard and exotic threads!
