Deep within the Mists of Aifnir, a cult of zealots known as the Brood of the Dead Dragon worship the powerful dracolich, Xarthegnax, an undead dragon that they believe represents ultimate power and domination. Fanatically devoted to their dark master, the offer it sacrifices and perform elaborate rituals in hopes of gaining its favor and becoming undead themselves. As the cult grows in power, their devotion to the dracolich becomes increasingly twisted.  The see death as a small price to pay for the ultimate reward of becoming one of its undead horde. Their activities have begun to draw the attention of the outside world, and the cult has become feared and reviled by the citizens of the land.  Dark whispers follow the sign they leave on the doors of those they deem unworthy.   Despite their reputation, the Brood continue to expand their influence throughout the land, seeing their dracolich overlord as a powerful force that can grant them even greater power and immortality. Their zealotry knows no bounds, and they are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals, even if it means destroying every last soul in the land.
