The ancient jockey's remains were painstakingly recovered from the wreckage off Cape Artemision in Euboea. As he likely held the reins tightly in his left hand and a whip firmly in his right, his rugged face tells a tale of intense anguish and fervent passion. This magnificent work is famously known as the "Artemission Jockey". The scattered fragments were meticulously reassembled in 1971 thanks to the generous financial backing of an American philanthropist and the Psichas Foundation's invaluable support.
