Bronze Age Beaker

Bronze Age Beaker

A stunningly crafted Beaker vessel from the early days of human history, approximately 4,200 years old and dating back to the Early Bronze Age, boasts intricate thumbnail prints that capture the attention of all who behold it. Excavated in fragments from a timber-lined coffin unearthed at Wether Hill on Ingram Farm, this remarkable find was made possible by the tireless efforts of the Northumberland Archaeological Group. Though the acidic soil conditions unfortunately precluded the recovery of human remains within the coffin, the team's perseverance paid off as they successfully retrieved fragments from no fewer than five individual Early Bronze Age pots.
