At first glance, they resembled rhinos, but their true kinship lies with horses; Equidae and Brontotheriidae share a common ancestor, making them part of the suborder Hippomorpha. Fossil records show that these magnificent creatures thrived for 22 million years, until their demise at the close of the Eocene epoch.
