Broken Dyson Door Retaining Clip
thingiverse
My top-of-the-line Dyson product fell apart after only a year, with multiple components malfunctioning in quick succession. I've always been skeptical about the quality of the plastic and some design choices that seem questionable at best. The retaining clip, a crucial component that keeps the door shut without resorting to gaffa tape, eventually gave way due to fatigue. To fix this issue, I plan to upgrade it with a 3D-printed PC version. Although the PLA prototype is serviceable for now, I'm keen on improving its durability. Even with deliberate design flexibility incorporated into the clip, its thin cross-section makes it prone to damage, even when printed at maximum infill density.
