The iconic BT Tower in London stands at a height of 177 meters, serving as a communications tower with its origins dating back to the General Post Office. Designed by Eric Bedford and G. R. Yeats, this cylindrical structure is clad in glass and can withstand wind speeds up to 150 km/h. Initially housing technical equipment, microwave aerials, and suites, the tower was open to the public from 1966 until 1981. Despite its prominence as a landmark, it remained an official secret until 1993 when Kate Hoey revealed its existence in Parliament. The tower has also made appearances in popular culture, such as Alan Moore's graphic novel V for Vendetta and the subsequent film adaptation.
