IAG has confirmed an order of 18 Boeing 777-9X aircraft for British Airways (BA) with 24 additional options. These planes will replace the airline's aging fleet of 34 Boeing 747-400s, which are set to retire in February 2024. BA is already a significant user of the 777, operating 58 aircraft including 3 -200s, 43 -200ERs, and 12 -300ERs. The new 777-9 is the most fuel-efficient long-haul plane globally, providing numerous benefits to BA's fleet. It's an ideal replacement for the 747 and will suitably match the airline's network range and size.
