From 1939 to the 1950s, Bristol Hercules engines powered various military and civilian aircraft, including famous models like Lancaster, Beaufighter, Halifax, Wellington, and Vickers VC.1 Viking. The Bristol Engine Company produced over 57,400 of these 14-cylinder, two-row, supercharged, air-cooled radial engines with a bore of 5.75 in, stroke of 6.5 in, and a displacement of 2,360 in³ (38.7 litres). Measuring 53.15 in long, 55 in in diameter, and weighing 1,929 lb (875 kg), the engine delivered 1,272 hp (949 kW) at 2,800 rpm for takeoff and 1,356 hp (1,012 kW) at 2,750 rpm at 4,000 ft (1,220 m). The model accurately represents the critical components visible when installed on an aircraft, although wiring and rear details were omitted due to insufficient photographic evidence.
