As she stepped into the dimly lit room, a chill ran down her spine. The air inside was thick and heavy, weighed down by secrets that seemed to cling to every surface like a bad omen. The walls, once a warm honey color, now stood as dingy grey sentinels, guarding the memories of laughter and tears long past. A faint scent of stale cigarettes hung in the air, mingling with the acrid smell of old books. Every creaking floorboard beneath her feet seemed to whisper tales of forgotten dreams and shattered hopes. The flickering fluorescent lights above cast eerie shadows on the walls, making it seem as though the very spirits of the past were dancing around her.
