Briggs and Straton air filter 698403 holder

I have had problems getting a good seal on my Briggs Intek 17.5 hp air filter. The plastic has warped over time as shown in an attached photo and the filter does not always seal correctly. I made a new air box to hold the filter and attach it now with 2 springs and a 1/4 20 bolt that I can tighten down to create a good seal. I printed the unit in several pieces and glued together with silicon glue. Printing separately increased my odds of not getting a warped component. The 3 pieces are glued together making sure the contact plate with the raised ridge will contact the filter. I printed a little block to go in an open space just beyond the air inlet to the carb. I drill and tap to 1/4 20. Just hold the holder in place with a filter installed and drill into the block with a #7 drill. Then tap with a 1/4 20 tap. Only drill about 1/2 inch into the block, if you ever go back to the original make sure you seal this hole you made. Assemble the bolt as shown in the picture. I attach the springs to the cover latch pivot and attack to the bottom cover with the cover hooks. Maybe worth a try, I've had it on few weeks with not problems. Found the screw and springs at Lowes.
