This is a pioneering open-source clay extruding print head that can be used on numerous 3D printers. It's still in development, but it's already making waves thanks to the groundbreaking work by Unfold at http://www.thingiverse.com/unfold/about , Jonathan Keep at http://www.thingiverse.com/JKeep/about , and the innovative Wasp Group at http://ow.ly/Zt2tz . The project was sparked by Tom Lauerman at Penn State University's School of Visual Arts, https://sova.psu.edu/ , and is being driven forward in collaboration with Engineering Students as part of the University's Learning Factory program at http://www.lf.psu.edu/ . This cutting-edge work is supported by Penn State's Center for Innovative Material Processing through Direct Digital Deposition (CIMP-3D, http://www.cimp-3d.org ). The print head is just one piece of a larger puzzle - an entire printer system is currently under development and can be found here: https://github.com/Tom-Lauerman/Bricoleur . To stay up-to-date on my latest clay printer developments, follow me on Google+ at https://plus.google.com/+TomLauerman . For the complete parts list, check out the "Bill Of Materials" section. Building this print head will cost you around $30 USD (excluding printed parts). Catch a recent video of the system in action here: .
