At the 2013 World Maker Faire New York, an Xbox Kinect, ReconstructMe (http://reconstructMe.net), and The Scan-O-Tron 3000 (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:127968) were used to scan at the Great Fredini's Coney Island Scan-A-Rama booth, a modernized portrait studio in line with amusement park traditions but adapted for the era of 3D printing. The popup 3D portrait studio operates weekly in Coney Island and can even be brought to events; further details and print orders can be found at http://www.thegreatfredini.com/scan-a-rama. To achieve optimal results, printing should occur at a .1 mm layer height without support, with just a few manual additions of support cylinders and minor trimming of hanging plastic necessary for best results.
